Flood Warning - De Grey River Catchment
Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Western Australia Final Flood Warning For The De Grey River Catchment Issued at 10:45 AM WST on Sunday 19 January 2025 Flood Warning Number: 8 RIVERINE FLOODING EASING THROUGHOUT THE DE GREY RIVER CATCHMENT Elevated river levels are easing along the Oakover, Shaw and De Grey Rivers, with isolated minor flooding occurring along the Oakover River at Ripon Hills Road only. River and creek levels are expected to continue easing and further widespread riverine flooding is no longer expected. The chance of showers and thunderstorms remains over the De Grey catchment during Sunday. However, forecast rainfall totals are not expected to cause significant riverine flooding. A Flood Watch for parts of the Kimberley and the Pilbara district remains current, including the De Grey River catchment, due to the continued risk of localised flooding affecting road conditions. Oakover River: Minor flooding is easing and just above the minor flood level along the Oakover River at Ripon Hills Road. River levels are expected to continue easing. Nullagine River: River levels are easing along the Nullagine River at Tumbinna Pool. Small renewed rises are possible but significant riverine flooding is not expected. Coongan River: The Coongan River at Marble Bar is currently at 0.53 metres and falling slowly, below the minor flood level (1.00 m). Small renewed rises are possible but significant riverine flooding is not expected. Shaw River: Elevated river levels below the minor flood level are easing at Marble Bar Road. De Grey River: Flooding is not expected along the De Grey River at Coolenar Pool. The De Grey River at Coolenar Pool is currently at 1.50 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (5.50 m). The De Grey River at Coolenar Pool is expected to remain below the minor flood level (5.50 m). Flood Safety Advice: DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel plans may need to be reconsidered.
