Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Western Australia This Flood Watch provides early advice of possible flooding within the specified catchments. Final Flood Watch For Parts Of The Kimberley And Pilbara Districts Issued at 11:45 AM WST on Tuesday 21 January 2025 Flood Watch Number: 8 HEAVY RAINFALL RISK HAS EASED ACROSS THE KIMBERLEY AND THE PILBARA, FLOOD WARNINGS REMAIN CURRENT Severe Tropical Cyclone Sean is moving to the southwest away from the western Pilbara coast and will remain well offshore as it starts to gradually weaken from today. This system is no longer expected to cause any direct impacts to the Western Australia mainland. In the 24 hours to 9:00 am Tuesday, rainfall totals of 10 to 56 mm were recorded over the Pilbara. No significant rainfall totals have been recorded in the Kimberley. Showers and thunderstorms are possible across parts of the Pilbara and Kimberley during Tuesday, however widespread heavy falls are not expected. Localised flooding and disruption to transport routes across parts of the Flood Watch area, including Minilya-Exmouth Road, may persist over the next couple of days, however further significant river and creek level rises are not expected. Check road conditions before travelling. Flooding is no longer expected in the: West Kimberley Rivers De Grey River Fortescue River Flood warnings are current for the following catchments: Onslow Coast and Lyndon-Minilya Rivers.
