Flood Warning - Murray River upstream of Hume Weir

Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Victoria Final Flood Warning For The Murray River Upstream Of Lake Hume Issued at 11:36 AM EST on Thursday 26 September 2024 Flood Warning Number: 2 FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED ALONG THE UPPER MURRAY RIVER River levels peaked below the minor flood level along the Upper Murray River at Biggara and at Bringenbrong. Flooding is no longer expected. Rainfall totals up to 60 mm have been observed in the Upper Murray catchment in the 24 hours since 9.00 am Wednesday. Showers are easing, a total of 5-10 mm rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Thursday into Friday. Murray River to Biggara: Flooding is no longer expected in the Murray River to Biggara. Swampy Plains River: River levels are elevated along the Swampy Plains River, however, no flooding is expected. Murray River Biggara to Bringenbrong: Flooding is no longer expected in the Murray River Biggara to Bringenbrong. The Murray River at Bringenbrong peaked at 2.45 metres around 06:00 am Thursday 26 September, below the minor flood level (3.00 metres) and is currently at 2.36 metres and falling. The Murray River at Bringenbrong is expected to remain below the minor flood level (3.00 m) over the next few days. Khancoban Pondage: Cancellation Flood Safety Advice: SES advises that all community members should: Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater, Never allow children to play in floodwater, Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain, Keep well clear of fallen power lines Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.} Current Emergency Information is available at http://emergency.vic.gov.au For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
