Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Victoria Final Flood Warning For The Ovens And King Rivers Issued at 09:08 AM EDT on Thursday 05 December 2024 Flood Warning Number: 4 MINOR FLOODING HAS EASED AT DOCKER ROAD BRIDGE MINOR FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED AT WANGARATTA Heavy rainfall across the King and Ovens rivers has caused river level rises. Minor flooding has eased along the King River at Docker Road Bridge. No significant rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Thursday. Rainfall is forecast from Friday evening into the weekend and renewed river level rises are possible. Warnings will be issued if required. King River: No further flooding is expected along the King River. The King River at Docker Rd Bridge peaked at 3.91 metres Wednesday afternoon, just below the moderate flood level (3.95 m) and is currently at 3.67 metres and falling slowly, below the minor flood level (3.70 m). The King River at Docker Rd Bridge is expected to remain below the minor flood level (3.70 m). Ovens River downstream of Rocky Point: Minor flooding is no longer expected along the Ovens River at Wangaratta. The Ovens River at Wangaratta is currently at 11.21 metres and slowly rising, below the minor flood level (11.90 metres). As upstream floodwaters arrive, further river level rises are possible around Wangaratta during Thursday. However, the Ovens River at Wangaratta is expected to peak below the minor flood level (11.90 m) Thursday evening. King River D/S Lake William Hovell: Cancellation Flood Safety Advice: SES advises that all community members should: Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater, Never allow children to play in floodwater, Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain, Keep well clear of fallen power lines Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.} Current Emergency Information is available at http://emergency.vic.gov.au For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
