Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Tasmania TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Cancellation Of Severe Weather Warning for King Island, Furneaux Islands, Western, South East and North West Coast Forecast Districts. Issued at 10:06 am Monday, 2 September 2024. Damaging winds have eased across the state. Weather Situation The vigorous westerly airstream has eased over Tasmania, with damaging wind gusts no longer expected. cancellation of severe weather warning for the following areas: King Island, Furneaux Islands, Western, South East and North West Coast Severe weather is no longer occurring in Tasmania. The immediate threat of severe weather has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary. Significant wind gusts recorded to Monday 9:45am include: 141 KM/H WIND GUST WAS RECORDED AT MOUNT READ AT 9:31PM SUNDAY 131 KM/H WIND GUST WAS RECORDED AT LUNCHEON HILL AT 10:00PM SUNDAY 130 KM/H WIND GUST WAS RECORDED AT LAUNCESTON AT 11:09PM SUNDAY 124 km/h wind gust was recorded at Swan Hill AWS at 1:26am Monday 124 km/h wind gust was recorded at Swan Hill AWS at 8:26am Monday 122 km/h wind gust was recorded at Low Rocky Point at 1:34pm Sunday 117 km/h wind gust was recorded at Launceston Airport at 9:58pm Sunday 114 km/h wind gust was recorded at Cape Sorell at 9:01pm Sunday 111 km/h wind gust was recorded at Larapuna (Eddystone Point) at 1:39am Monday 111 km/h wind gust was recorded at Wynyard at 10:23pm Sunday 109 km/h wind gust was recorded at Strahan at 9:17pm Sunday 141 km/h wind gust was recorded at Mount Read at 9:34pm Sunday 100 km/h wind gust was recorded at Devonport at 10:30pm Sunday 157 km/h wind gust was recorded at King Island Airport at 10:38pm Sunday 135 km/h wind gust was recorded at Cape Grim at 10:36pm Sunday 130 km/h wind gust was recorded at Launceston Airport at 11:09pm Sunday The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Supervise children closely. * Do not walk, ride or drive through flood waters. * Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving. * Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500. No further warnings will be issued for this event. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
