Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Tasmania Final Flood Warning For The Macquarie River Issued at 12:17 PM EST on Monday 09 September 2024 Flood Warning Number: 15 RIVER LEVELS HAVE FALLEN BELOW MINOR FLOOD LEVELS ALONG MACQUARIE RIVER ABOVE WESTMOOR AND AT CRESSY PUMPS Rainfall over the last week caused minor to moderate flooding across the Macquarie River catchment. River levels have now fallen below minor flood levels along the Macquarie River above Westmoor and at Cressy Pumps. River and creek levels are now generally falling slowly across the catchment. No further flooding is expected, though strong flows may remain a hazard over the next few days. The chance of showers is forecast for the remainder of Monday and Tuesday but forecast rainfall totals are not expected to cause significant river level rises in the short term. Forecast rainfall from Wednesday afternoon into Thursday may cause renewed river level rises. The situation is being monitored and warnings will restart if required. Macquarie River - Lake River to Longford: No further flooding is expected in the Macquarie River - Lake River to Longford. No river level observations are available for the Macquarie River above Westmoor. The river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level (3.30 m) and falling as of Monday afternoon. The Macquarie River above Westmoor is expected to continue falling slowly and remain below the minor flood level. The Macquarie River at Cressy Pumps is currently at 2.69 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (3.00 m).
