Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Queensland This Flood Watch provides early advice of possible flooding within the specified catchments. Final Flood Watch For The North Tropical Coast And Parts Of The Central Coast Issued at 10:30 AM EST on Sunday 22 December 2024 Flood Watch Number: 5 ADDITIONAL FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED ACROSS THE FLOOD WATCH AREA The tropical low and coastal trough that brought widespread rainfall and riverine flooding across the Flood Watch area has now moved offshore. Catchments across the Flood Watch area are wet from recent rainfall and saturated in parts. Heavy rainfall has been recorded in parts of the Flood Watch area, with the heaviest falls about the North Tropical Coast in the 24 hours to 10 am Sunday. Showers and storms will continue to linger in the Flood Watch area during Sunday into Monday, particularly about the North Tropical Coast, but are not expected to cause renewed riverine flooding. Locally heavier falls and isolated renewed rises remain possible with storms. Flooding is no longer expected for the following catchments: Daintree River Mossman River Barron River Mulgrave and Russell Rivers Johnstone River Tully River Murray River Black River Ross and Bohle Rivers Don and Proserpine Rivers Herbert River Haughton River Pioneer River A minor flood warning is current for the Herbert River and isolated minor flooding is easing in the Barron River catchment.
