Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Queensland Major Flood Warning For The Georgina River And Eyre Creek Issued at 01:14 PM EST on Monday 31 March 2025 Flood Warning Number: 7 MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT MARION DOWNS MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BEDOURIE LATER IN THE WEEK AS UPSTREAM PEAKS ARRIVE Moderate to locally heavy rainfall was observed along the Georgina River and Eyre Creek over the past week. This rainfall has resulted in river and creek level rises across the catchment, where major flooding is occurring at Marion Downs and is possible at Bedourie as upstream peaks arrive. The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required. Georgina River to Marion Downs: River levels are generally falling across the Georgina River to Marion Downs. The Georgina River at Marion Downs was at 5.20 metres and falling at 7:15 am Monday, above the major flood level (5.00 m). The Georgina River at Marion Downs may fall below the major flood level (5.00 m) during Tuesday. Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs: Elevated river and creek levels are occurring along the Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs as floodwaters continue to arrive from upstream. Eyre Creek: Major flooding may occur along the Eyre Creek. Eyre Creek at Bedourie was at 4.63 metres and rising at 9:00 am Monday, above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) and above the bridge level (4.40 m). The Eyre Creek at Bedourie is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) for the next few days. Further rises to near the major flood level (5.00 m) are possible later in the week. Eyre Creek at Glengyle was steady around 2.60 metres at 9:00 am Sunday, above the minor flood level (2.00 m). The Eyre Creek at Glengyle is expected to remain above the minor flood level for the next few days. Further rises to near the moderate flood level (3.00 m) are possible later in the week.
