Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Queensland Moderate Flood Warning For The Mary River Issued at 12:57 PM EST on Friday 20 December 2024 Flood Warning Number: 16 MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT MIVA AND TIARO MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT DAGUN POCKET AND GYMPIE Moderate to heavy rainfall across the Mary River catchment over the last few days has caused minor to moderate flooding along the Mary River. Minor flooding is occurring at Gympie, where river levels are falling. Downstream, moderate flooding is occurring at Miva and Tiaro, and river levels are also falling. No significant rainfall was recorded in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Friday. No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days. Mary River to Gympie: Minor flooding is occurring along the Mary River to Gympie. No current river level observations are available for the Mary River at Dagun Pocket. The river level is estimated to be around the minor flood level (7.00 m). The Mary River at Dagun Pocket is likely to fall below the minor flood level during Friday. The Mary River at Gympie peaked at 10.26 metres at 1:00 pm on Thursday 19 December 2024 with minor level and is currently at 8.56 metres and falling, above the minor flood level (6.00 m). The Mary River at Gympie is likely to remain above the minor flood level (6.00 m) during the remainder of Friday. Six Mile Creek: Elevated river levels remain across the Six Mile Creek. Mary River downstream of Gympie: Moderate flooding is occurring along the Mary River downstream of Gympie. The Mary River at Miva peaked at 11.47 metres around midday Thursday 19 December with moderate flooding and is currently at 10.33 metres and falling, above the moderate flood level (9.50 m). The Mary River at Miva is likely to remain around the moderate flood level (9.50 m) during the remainder of Friday. The Mary River at Tiaro peaked at 9.78 metres at 7:00 pm on Thursday 19 December 2024. The river level is currently at 8.84 metres and steady, above the moderate flood level (8.00 m). The Mary River at Tiaro may fall below moderate flood level (8.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday. The Mary River at Maryborough is currently at 3.11 metres and falling with the tide, below the minor flood level (5.00 m). The Mary River at Maryborough is expected to remain below the minor flood level (5.00 m) during the remainder of Friday. Tinana Creek: Elevated river levels remain along Tinana Creek.
