Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Queensland Moderate Flood Warning For The Upper And Lower Burdekin River Issued at 10:52 AM EST on Tuesday 04 February 2025 Flood Warning Number: 13 MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING AT BURDEKIN DAM AND AT DALBEG MODERATE FLOODING LIKELY AT CLARE FROM OVERNIGHT TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY, EXTENDING TO INKERMAN BRIDGE FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING Significant rainfall totals have been recorded in the upper Burdekin catchment on the eastern ranges around Paluma and surrounds which have resulted in river level rises and flooding. A major flood peak occurred at Selheim during Monday evening and river levels continue to ease. Currently the flood peak is approaching Burdekin Dam as floodwaters move downstream. Further rainfall is forecast over the next few days. This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary. Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam: Moderate flooding may occur along the Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam. The Burdekin River at Sellheim is currently at 13.55 metres and falling, with minor flooding. The Burdekin River at Sellheim is likely to remain above the minor flood level (12.00 m) during Tuesday afternoon, and continue to ease. The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is currently at 4.73 metres and rising, above the minor flood level. The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam may reach the moderate flood level (5.50 m) Tuesday afternoon into the evening. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall. Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam: Moderate flooding is likely along the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam. The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is currently at 13.53 metres and rising, with minor flooding. The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is likely to reach the moderate flood level (15.00 m) Tuesday afternoon into the evening. Further rises are possible with the arrival of upstream flow, and forecast rainfall. The Burdekin River at Clare is currently at 10.40 metres and rising, with minor flooding. The Burdekin River at Clare is likely to reach the moderate flood level (13.00 m) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Further rises are possible with the arrival of upstream flow, and forecast rainfall. The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge is currently at 7.73 metres and rising, with minor flooding. The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge is likely to reach the moderate flood level (10.00 m) Wednesday morning. Further rises are possible with the arrival of upstream flow, and forecast rainfall.
