Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Queensland Minor Flood Warning For The Herbert River Issued at 08:56 AM EST on Saturday 15 February 2025 Flood Warning Number: 54 MINOR FLOODING EASING AT HALIFAX AND ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE, RENEWED RISES TO MINOR AT ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE POSSIBLE WITH THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY MINOR FLOODING STEADY AT GLENEAGLE WITH SMALL RENEWED RISES POSSIBLE WITH THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY Minor flooding is now generally easing across the Herbert River catchment, with Halifax falling below the major and moderate flood levels during Friday evening and early Saturday morning, respectively. Minor flooding is expected to be steady in the upper catchment at Gleneagle. The chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm are forecast in the Herbert River catchment during the remainder of Saturday and into Sunday, which may cause small renewed river rises into Sunday and slow down the current river level recession. The situation is being monitored and forecasts and warnings will be updated as required. Herbert River to Nash's Crossing: Minor flooding is continuing along the Herbert River to Nash's Crossing. No recent observations are available at Gleneagle. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is now expected to be above the minor flood level (4.50 m) and steady. The Herbert River at Gleneagle is likely to remain above the minor flood level (4.50 m) into Sunday. Small renewed rises are possible with storms. Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing: Minor flooding is easing along the Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing, with small renewed rises possible with thunderstorm activity into Sunday. The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 6.65 metres and falling, above the minor flood level. The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is likely to fall below the minor flood level (6.00 m) late Saturday. With forecast rainfall from thunderstorm activity, the river level may return to around the minor flood level overnight Saturday into Sunday. The Herbert River at Ingham Pump Station is currently at 7.54 metres and falling, below the minor flood level. The Herbert River at Ingham Pump Station is expected to remain below the minor flood level (10.00 m) for the remainder of Saturday and into Sunday. Small renewed rises are possible with storms, but are not expected to reach the minor flood level. The Herbert River at Gairloch is currently at 7.29 metres and falling, below the minor flood level. The Herbert River at Gairloch is expected to remain below the minor flood level (9.50 m) during the remainder of Saturday and into Sunday. Small renewed rises are possible with storms, but are not expected to reach the minor flood level. The Herbert River at Halifax fell below the major flood level (5.00 metres) around 7 pm Friday, and fell below the moderate flood level (4.50 metres) around 4 am Saturday. The river level is currently at 4.16 metres and falling, above the minor flood level. The Herbert River at Halifax is likely to fall below the minor flood level (4.00 m) Saturday afternoon.
