Major Flood Warning For The Richmond River
Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, New South Wales Minor To Major Flood Warning For The Richmond River Issued at 02:34 AM EDT on Monday 10 March 2025 Flood Warning Number: 26 MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT CORAKI AND BUNGAWALBYN MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT WOODBURN MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT CASINO Inflows from the upper Richmond River combined with inflows from the Wilsons River have resulted in river level rises in the lower Richmond catchment. The main flood peak along the Richmond River is now approaching Coraki, where major flooding continues. Major flooding is also occurring downstream at Bungawalbyn, where river levels are expected to peak early Monday morning. In the upper Richmond catchment, minor flooding is occurring at Casino, where river levels are falling. A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall is current for the Northern Rivers. This rainfall may cause renewed river level rises along the Richmond River. The situation is being closely monitored and warnings will be updated as necessary. Richmond River: Major flooding is occurring along the Richmond River at Coraki and Bungawalbyn. Moderate flooding is occurring at Woodburn, and minor flooding is occurring at Casino. The Richmond River at Kyogle is currently at 9.23 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (12.00 metres). The Richmond River at Kyogle is likely to remain below the minor flood level (12.00 metres) during Monday. Renewed rises are possible from Monday morning with forecast rainfall. The Richmond River at Casino Road Bridge is currently at 9.58 metres and falling slowly, with minor flooding. The Richmond River at Casino Road Bridge is expected to fall below the minor flood level (9.20 metres) early Monday morning. The Richmond River at Casino (Automatic Gauge) is currently at 12.37 metres and falling slowly, with minor flooding. The Richmond River at Casino (Automatic Gauge) is expected to fall below the minor flood level (11.90 metres) early Monday morning. The Richmond River at Coraki is currently at 6.17 metres and rising, above the major flood level (5.70 metres). The Richmond River at Coraki is expected to peak near 6.25 metres around 03:00 am Monday morning, with major flooding. The river level is likely to remain above the major flood level (5.70 metres) through to Monday evening. The Richmond River at Bungawalbyn is currently at 5.63 metres and steady, above the major flood level (5.00 metres). The Richmond River at Bungawalbyn is expected to peak near 5.70 metres around 05:00 am Monday morning, with major flooding. The river level is likely to remain above the major flood level (5.00 metres) through to Monday evening. The Richmond River at Woodburn is currently at 3.85 metres and rising, above the moderate flood level (3.70 metres). The Richmond River at Woodburn may reach around 4.00 metres late Monday morning, with moderate flooding.
