Flood Warning - Tweed River

Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, New South Wales Moderate Flood Warning For The Tweed River Issued at 01:49 PM EDT on Monday 10 March 2025 Flood Warning Number: 19 MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT TUMBULGUM The main flood peak along the Tweed River is now downstream of Tumbulgum where the river level peaked near the major flood level (2.50 m) Monday morning. River levels at Murwillumbah and Chinderah have fallen below the respective minor flood levels. Tweed River: Moderate flooding is occurring along the Tweed River at Tumbulgum. The Tweed River at North Murwillumbah peaked at 3.52 metres around 05:00 am Monday with minor flooding and is currently at 2.98 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (3.00 m). The Tweed River at North Murwillumbah is expected to remain below the minor flood level. The Tweed River at Tumbulgum peaked near 2.38 metres around 08:45 am Monday and is currently at 2.30 metres and falling, with moderate flooding. The Tweed River at Tumbulgum may remain above the moderate flood level (1.80 m) until early Tuesday morning. The Tweed River at Chinderah (Barneys Point) peaked at 1.60 metres around 08:15 am Monday with minor flooding and is currently at 1.28 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (1.30 m). The Tweed River at Chinderah (Barneys Point) is expected to remain below the minor flood level. Flood Safety Advice: In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue, assistance to evacuate or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500. *Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place. *Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood. *Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains. *Never drive, ride or walk through flood water.
