Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, Northern Territory Final Flood Warning For The Adelaide River Issued at 09:23 AM CST on Wednesday 17 January 2024 Flood Warning Number: 3 FLOODING HAS EASED AT ADELAIDE RIVER TOWN Flooding has eased along the Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town. Higher levels and renewed level rises below the minor flood level are possible with forecast rainfall. Rainfall totals up to 45 mm have been recorded across Upper Adelaide River catchment since 9:00 am Tuesday to 8:00 am Wednesday. Catchments across the Adelaide River catchment will continue to be monitored. A flood watch is current for the North Western NT including the Adelaide River catchment. A Severe Weather Warning is current for heavy rainfall and damaging winds for the Daly, Tiwi, Gregory, Arnhem and parts of Carpentaria and Barkly districts, including the Adelaide River catchment. Adelaide River and Margaret River: River levels are elevated along Adelaide and Margaret Rivers. Upper Adelaide River: No further flooding is expected in the Upper Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town. The Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town peaked at 11.53 m with minor flooding at 5:00 am Tuesday. The river level is currently at 6.43 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (11.50 m). Renewed rises with forecast rainfall are expected to be below the minor flood level. Flood Safety Advice: The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should: Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
