Winds whip up VIC and NSW

Strong winds have pummeled parts of Victoria and New South Wales ahead of a cold front.
In VIC, Hogan Island and Wilson's Promontory have both seen gusts over 100km/h. In higher parts of state, Mount Buller, Mount Gellibrand and Mount Hotham have clocked gusts over 95km/h. Even Tullamarine Airport recorded a 91km/h gust, its strongest gust since late February.
Over the border in NSW, winds have also been wild. Winds gusting to 119km/h have been recorded at Thredbo Top Station, with mean winds speeds reaching 91km/h at times. In the Illawarra, Wollongong Airport recorded 89km/h gusts this morning which is the strongest gust recorded this year. Bellambi has also has seen gusts of 100km/h.
This cold front will reach southwestern parts of VIC during Monday evening. Behind the front, winds will tend southwesterly and remain gusty, especially around the coast on Tuesday in Victoria. Winds will ease for coastal Victoria during Wednesday as a high pushes in over the state, bringing settled conditions.
For NSW, winds are likely to be strongest along the coasts and southern ranges on Tuesday, pushing cool southerly winds along the coast during Wednesday.
