Significant heat in Kalgoorlie

Graeme Brittain

A near-stationary trough will maintain a very hot airmass over Kalgoorlie from Sunday 28th to around Friday 2nd.

Daytime temperatures are expected to peak in the high-30s each day of this period, which is substantially higher than average for the end of March and beginning of April (around 27 degrees).

Minimum temperatures will also be distinctly above average, particularly between Monday and Wednesday when gusty winds will slow nocturnal cooling.

The airmass will become increasingly dry over Kalgoorlie, meaning it will actually feel a few degrees cooler than actual at times - especially when exposed to any wind.

Weather models then signal the arrival of a cool change on Saturday 3rd, as a high pressure ridge builds and sends fresher SE'ly winds over the region.
