Quick change of weather in Victoria 

Saturday starts with warm weather in Victoria with a trough affecting the state. Today is the hottest day of the month until now, with 33 degrees the maximum temperature for Melbourne. The northerly winds preceding the trough have warm and dry characteristics. With the trough moving from west to east these conditions will change.

In the early afternoon, the wind direction is expected to change to southwesterly, bringing a cooler airmass over the state. Additionally, this trough should bring strong winds and thunderstorms through the weekend, with a high chance of wind gusts over 100km/h.

On Sunday 19th, a cold front across southern Victoria should increase the chances of scattered thunderstorms, some severe. The wind gust should peak at 75-95km/h over some elevated and coastal parts of central and western districts in Victoria in the late morning and early afternoon.
