Saturday starts with warm weather in Victoria with a trough affecting the state. Today is the hottest day of the month until now, with 33 degrees the maximum temperature for Melbourne. The northerly winds preceding the trough have warm and dry characteristics. With the trough moving from west to east these conditions will change.

In the early afternoon, the wind direction is expected to change to southwesterly, bringing a cooler airmass over the state. Additionally, this trough should bring strong winds and thunderstorms through the weekend, with high chance of wind gusts over 100km/h.
