Perth under a cyclone warning
Josh Fisher

Areas from Jurien Bay to Albany, including Perth are under a cyclone warning as the first cyclone in around two decades approaches southwest WA.
Tropical Cyclone Bianca has already affected the state's northwest and now she has her eye set on the southwest. This will be the first cyclone to affect the Perth area since Ned in 1989.
Luckily, Bianca is moving into a region of cooler waters and she will rapidly begin to weaken before reaching the southwest. By early Sunday morning the cyclone should drop to a category one before making landfall.
Despite the news of Bianca loosing her energy, residents should still be aware of the risk for damaging winds, rough seas, coastal erosion and heavy rainfall within the next 24 to 36 hours.
Wind gusts to 100km/h are possible over the southwest with higher than normal tides expected to cause flooding in low lying coastal areas of Geographe Bay. Heavy rainfall is also possible south of about Perth, with localised flooding possible.
As Bianca makes landfall she will rapidly break up over land and by Monday all that will be left is a few showers and storms associated with the remaining trough.
