Adelaide hovered near 30°C most of Tuesday night, only managing to briefly dip to 27.4°C just after midnight, making it the warmest minimum since January, 2021.

Further west, Nullarbor's overnight minimum of 24.4°C was the warmest since November, 2020.

Many other locations in SA and eastern WA had their warmest night in nearly 2 years, including

  • Forrest: 25.6°C
  • Cummins: 26.4°C
  • Kuitpo: 23.7°C
  • Mt Lofty: 22.8°C
  • Port Pirie: 26.7°C

Further north, Paraburdoo's minimum of 31.0°C was the hottest night since last December.

The hot night followed a Boxing Day that reached 44.1°C in Nullarbor, the warmest day since November, 2020.

Adelaide's Boxing Day top of 39.0°C was the warmest since early January. Today, it should be even hotter with the city expected to reach 40°C.

A change has crossed the Eucla and is due in the Adelaide region later tonight. This change will keep things cool over southern SA and WA for a couple of days before it heats back into the thirties for New Year weekend. The change won't push as far north as Paraburdoo though which is looking at mid-forties temperatures for the rest of the week.
