Anzac Day Dawn Service forecast
As promised last week, here is an update on the expected conditions for those attending a dawn service to honour the men and women who have served our country and to remember those who didn't return home.

As you can see above, the great big high that has been keeping conditions settled and dry across the country will be centered over the Tasman Sea but will still extend over eastern and central Australia. On the other side of the country, a low-pressure system, front and trough will be moving over WA. This will lead to the minimum temperature to be at or above average for each capital city except for Perth as seen in the following image.

Let’s take a closer look at the minimum temperatures and early morning conditions for each of the capital cities.
- Sydney and Canberra will be underneath high pressure. It will be dry but light winds and lingering moisture could see fog form over Canberra and possibly Sydney. Sydney’s forecast minimum temperature of 14°C is close to average and Canberra’s forecast minimum of 7°C is a degree and a half higher than average.
- Brisbane will be mostly cloudy and could see some early morning showers due to onshore winds directed by the high. Its forecast minimum is 18°C, 2 degrees above average.
- Perth will experience cooler conditions and possibly the odd shower in the wake of the trough moving over WA. Its forecast minimum of 7°C is the equal coldest among the capitals and is almost 6 degrees below average.
- Adelaide and Melbourne will be dry and mostly clear with warm northerly winds flowing between the high to the east and the low to the west. Each city will have a mild morning with Adelaide’s minimum of 18°C being 4 degrees above average and Melbourne’s minimum of 13°C being 3 degrees above average.
- Rounding out the capital cities, Darwin and Hobart will each be dry and mostly clear. Darwin will be the warmest of the capitals with a minimum of 25°C (about 2 degrees above average). Hobart’s minimum temperature of 9°C will be about a degree above average.
