Warm and sunny for Brisbane after soaking rain
Ben McBurney

Brisbane can look forward to summer weather over the coming days after
cool and rainy conditions over the past two days.
A low pressure trough and associated low brought the Queensland
capital's heaviest rain in over a month on Friday and Saturday. The
city itself picked up 55mm over the last 48 hours, with some southern
suburbs seeing close to 100mm. Brisbane has now already exceeded its
average April rainfall, receiving 91mm compared to the long-term
average of 67mm.
If residents also thought it was a bit chilly yesterday, they could
not be blamed. The city crept up to just 22 degrees, its coolest day
since October and five degrees below average.
Fortunately, generally sunnier and warmer weather is on the way as the
low speeds south further into the Tasman Sea. Showers cleared rapidly
late yesterday evening and gave way to mostly clear skies with only
the odd light shower around.
Today is likely to be one of the driest days the city will see this
week. The mercury should reach 27 degrees with partly cloudy skies, a
perfect day to get out to the beach or have a picnic.
Into the working week the weather may become a little more unsettled,
although it will remain warm with maxima averaging around 28 degrees
until around Thursday. Showers are possible each day, with Tuesday and
Wednesday likely to be the wettest days with thunderstorms a chance,
mainly in the afternoon and evening.
The warm weather looks like it will come to an end around Friday as a
cool change moves through, causing onshore winds and a few showers
into next weekend.
