At last, weekend sunshine for Sydney and Brisbane
Sydney and Brisbane, you deserve it.
After around 200 mm of rain in most parts of Brisbane from last weekend into the first part of the week, and roughly 300 mm in most parts of Sydney over the same period, the weekend looks relatively fine in both cities.
Both Sydney and Brisbane enjoyed long stretches of blue sky in the second half of the working week after the torrential rain moved away midweek.
But it's the weekend when most people are able to make the most of life under sunny skies, and both cities should see plenty of that this weekend.

- Brisbane has pretty close to what most people would consider the perfect forecast, with sunshine, light winds, and tops of 30 degrees tipped for both Saturday and Sunday.
- Sydney should reach tops of 27 degrees and 25 degrees on Saturday and Sunday respectively, with just the slight chance of a shower on Sunday evening.
"High pressure and a dry airmass are going to bring settled conditions for much of eastern Australia this weekend," Weatherzone meteorologist Esteban Abellan explains.
"The only exception will be the southeast, where a cold front will trigger a few showers in Tasmania, Victoria, and southeastern NSW during Saturday but we are not expecting any substantial falls with these showers."
So that's it. For once, some rare good weather news. You're welcome.
